MicaraBudget is a money app, so the only honest version of this page is a specific one. Here is exactly what is stored, where, and who can see it.
What lives on your phone
Your entire ledger — accounts, transactions, bills, cards, budgets, goals and debts — is stored in a database on the device. Every screen reads from that copy, which is why the app works with no signal. Your sign-in tokens are held in the operating system's secure store, not in ordinary app storage.
What is sent to the server
The same records, so a second device can catch up and a lost phone is not a lost year. They are stored against your account and are never combined with anyone else's. There is no password: you sign in with a code emailed to you, and even that is stored only as a hash that cannot be reversed, then discarded once used.
The server is the app's backup and its meeting point between devices. It is not a gatekeeper: if it were switched off tomorrow, the copy on your phone would keep working.
The AI features
Four things use a language model: the capture bar, receipt reading, the question box, and the monthly observations. Each one sends only what that task needs — the text you typed, the photo you took, or a set of already-calculated totals — to Anthropic's API through our server, and gets back a draft or an answer.
- The model never writes to your ledger. It returns a draft; you confirm it.
- The API key lives on the server and is never included in an app build.
- Turning the AI off leaves every other feature working exactly as before.
What we do not do
No advertising. No selling or sharing of your data. No third-party analytics in the app or on this page — there is no tracking script here to block. We do not read individual ledgers.
Deleting your account
Ask and it is removed, along with everything stored against it. Deleting the app removes the copy on your phone immediately.
